CS1 is a requirement for the Alpine and Snowboard Level 2 certification

This two-day event covers teaching children of all age’s, ability levels 1 through 5. Topics include exercises to develop skills, movement analysis, and usage of the C.A.P. model for our younger students.  Participants will receive a certificate upon successful completion of this event to recognize knowledge, skill, and expertise as a children’s specialist 1.

(Please refer to the PSIA/AASI National Standards document for a more complete description of children’s specialist 1. This document is on the PSIA-RM website under children’s reference materials.)

Candidates are evaluated through their completion of an online e-learning course and their performance of on-snow teaching scenarios and indoor movement analysis. CS1 facilitators assess candidate knowledge throughout the 2-Day event. Therefore, active participation in the on-snow clinic portions of CS1 is essential. The group facilitator will sit down with each candidate and add suggestions for areas of improvement at the candidate’s request. This is a two-day event with one final scorecard. If a candidate is unsuccessful at attaining CS1, both days will need to be taken again.

The Children's Instruction Manual and the Alpine or Snowboard Technical Manual are helpful for completing this course.

Participants must complete the Children's Specialist 1 E-Learning course before attending the on-snow exam. You can find directions to complete the CS1 E-Learning at this link:
